Fashion: 2000s





Fashion in the 2000s have been a bit different than fashion in different eras. The 2000s did not have a specific fashion trend like earlier decades. Fashions were a mash up of many different fashions and many things were in during this time. More feminine fashions came into play, with dresses and skirts becoming more popular. Fashion during this period was often influenced by actors and actresses as well as the many fashion models of this decade.

In the early 2000s denim became very popular. Dark denim with an added belt or an elastic strip panel in the leg of the pants was very popular. Distressed denim as well as acid wash denim became in fashion as well. Dresses and skirts were also popular as were pants suits for women. Hip hop fashion became even more popular. Heavy metal fashion as well as rock and roll fashion became even more popular. Activist fashion became popular with many different things. Activist fashions included t shirts that protested wars and many other types of clothing. The gypsy style made a comeback during this era. Mixed with a bohemian style it was called Boho-chic.

In the late 2000s many different fashions came into play. The grown man look became highly popular in hip hop fashion. This was headlined by Kanye West. Leggings paired with sweaters and shirts became popular. Form fitting clothing became increasingly popular. Skinny jeans became one of the hottest fashion items of the decade. Designer glasses as well as designer shoes became very popular during this time period. Other trends included polo tops, argyle, camouflage, crocs, beanie hats and baseball caps. Another popular trend in fashion during this time was t shirts and other clothing with movie characters. The Harry Potter franchise had a large amount of clothing attire as did the Twilight fandom.
