Fashion: Project Runway




Project Runway is a very popular reality television show that features the model Heidi Klum. This show first aired on the Bravo Network. In April of 2008 the producers of the show, Weinstein Company announced that they had made a five year deal that would air the show on the Lifetime Television network which was to begin with Season 6. However NBC did not like this move and filed a lawsuit for the company. In September 2008 the courts decided that they would rule in NBCs favor. This ruling prevented Lifetime from airing Project Runway. In 2009 with the lawsuit over Weinstein agreed to pay NBC for the right to move the show. It is now airing on Lifetime.

The show usually has a group of 12 contestants. These contestants are all fashion designers. They are given many different challenges during the season. The finale features the finale three contestants and they have the final challenge. Whoever wins the final challenge gets to show their product line at the New York Fashion Week. Some of the challenges included making outfits from a non traditional standpoint. Some items included, recyclable materials, apartment furnishings, grocery store, edible food, plants, and flowers. They also often designed for certain high profile people, such as Sasha Cohen, Tara Connor, and Sasha Cohen. They also had to design for certain corporate fashion lines such as Macys and Banana Republic. The contestants also sometimes had a specialized theme such as female wrestling outfit, wedding dress, and prom dresses.

Project Runway has now been on for 7 seasons with the new season on air now. There are also several international versions of this show, shown all around the world by many different countries around the world. This has helped create more popularity for this show all around the world making each individual show a success.
