Her wedding dresses are in very high demand and very well loved throughout the world. Vera Wang currently lives in Manhattan with her husband and two daughters. A seldom known fact to many people is that Vera Wang was a figure skater who competed at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in 1968. She failed to make the Olympics team that year and decided to go into fashion.

Wangs first career was to be the senior fashion editor for Vogue. Vogue is a very popular fashion magazine with all the latest fashions of the time period. Vera Wang went on to be the senior fashion editor for sixteen years. In the year 1985 she decided to leave Vogue after she was turned down for the editor in chief position. She later went on to join with Ralph Lauren as a designer director for a couple of years. In the year 1990 she decided to open her own design salon in New York in the location of the Carlyle Hotel. Her bridal gowns became a very prominent feature. She also has designed other items such as costumes for figure skaters as well as launched other fashion industry items. Her brand name has expanded to include, eyewear, houseware, jewelry, and fragrances.

Vera Wang has made many wedding gowns for many different celebrities in the world. Some of these include, Kareena Gore, Holly Hunter, Campbell Brown, Danielle Jonas, Jeri Ryan, Kate Hudson, Mariah Carey, Ivanka Trump, Jennifer Lopez, and Jennifer Garner. She has also designed outfits for Nancy Kerrigan and Michelle Kwan. She is also the designer for the cheerleading outfits for the Philadelphia Eagles football team. Her wedding dresses are so popular that she has released books and catalogs full of these grand dresses.
