Fashion: Early 1900s fashion

In the earl 1900s fashion took some beautiful turns. European fashions were the in style thing to wear and many people wore these fashions everyday. The more fashion style clothes you wore the more higher class you were thought to be. During this time the corset started having a smaller following than what it had in years before.

Women in this period of time often found that dresses with a full bust were very popular. This style was often called pigeon breast. The narrow waist of these dresses were often set off with a sash or belt adding to the beautiful dress. Skirts were generally floor length with a large train. Even normal daywear was usually floor length with a train. A dress called the Lingerie dress was very popular during this time. If the lady liked to do a lot of outdoor things such as traveling the fashion for this was often formed after a mans shirt and coat combined with a skirt. These suites were often called tailor-mades. Girl childrens fashion was often that of the women in this time period, just on a smaller scale.

Mens fashion started with a 3 piece suit. This suit includes a sack coat, a waist coat and a matching pair of trousers. Trousers of this era were typically shorter and were creased with the new trouser press. Dress shirts as well as other shirts were made to be stiff and rigid in appearance. Tuxedos for formal events were widely popular as well. The necktie as well as bowties became increasingly popular. In the wintertime men wore topcoats and calf length overcoats. Male children typically wore Russian style blouses and sailor suits were very popular as well. If the child was going riding, he often wore a duster and knickerbockers.
